Mottai
The design concept explores how two distinct cultural identities can be woven into a single, immersive narrative. Drawing from the shared values of Japanese and French traditions, craftsmanship, precision, and understated elegance, the space is conceived as an expression of balance rather than contrast. Neither influence dominates. Instead, harmony is achieved through restraint, proportion, and layered expression.
Upon entry, guests are greeted by a sculptural, organic screen inspired by the fluid motion of a thread. The form introduces softness and movement while establishing a narrative of connection and continuity. Beneath it, a chandelier dome becomes a defining focal point, where fabric, curvature, and warm illumination work together to create atmosphere and depth. The result is a sequence that feels intentional, guiding guests through a cohesive and emotionally resonant experience.
Throughout the space, materiality and detail quietly reinforce the dialogue between cultures. Clean lines, calm spatial rhythm, and a nuanced relationship between light and shadow reflect Japanese minimalism, while elegance and softness emerge through refined finishes, furnishings, and custom elements. Architecture, interiors, and the culinary experience come together as a unified composition, creating an environment that feels poetic, immersive, and enduring.
